My family emigrated from Mexico back in the early 80s. We settled in Chicago where I spent most of childhood. Growing up in poverty has definitely influenced a lot of my work, and how I work. It prepared me for the instability that comes with making art for a living. I've lived in several places since then. I've been lucky enough to travel a good chunk of the globe where I've gathered tons of knowledge and inspiration, but it was the laid-back attitude of the desert that truly allowed me to fine-tune my skills as an artist. If I had to describe my work, it would have to be that my experience at that moment shapes it. Like me, it doesn't sit still for very long.
